The Armenian Heritage Walk continues to gain momentum and the project has just received a powerful vote of confidence from three of Philadelphia’s most respected institutions.

On April 10, 2023, the Armenian Heritage Walk was formally endorsed by the Philadelphia Museum of Art (PMA), Philadelphia Parks and Recreation (PPR), and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS). These organizations, each a steward of the city’s cultural, recreational, and environmental landscape, have publicly recognized the value and significance of the Armenian Heritage Walk in a joint letter of support.

Their endorsement highlights the thoughtful vision behind the project, which includes a reimagined public space and the revitalization of the Young Meher statue, originally installed in 1976 by the Philadelphia Armenian community and the Knights of Vartan. The plan enhances the grounds along Anne d’Harnoncourt Drive across from the PMA’s North Entrance, elevating the area into a more beautiful, accessible, and meaningful destination.

In their own words, the partnering institutions wrote:

“The Armenian Heritage Walk Committee has demonstrated its commitment to work, act and proceed in a professional and collaborative manner to design a project that meets the expectations of our organizations.”

This recognition confirms what many in the community already know: the Armenian Heritage Walk is a project grounded in cultural pride, civic partnership, and design excellence. The plans align with the values of Fairmount Park and PPR, and reflect a shared belief that public art and green space have the power to tell stories, bring communities together, and honor heritage in lasting ways.

We are honored to have the support of these three cornerstone institutions and look forward to continued collaboration as the project moves through its next phases of approvals and implementation.

Together, we are building more than a park—we are building a legacy.
