In a grand finale to the Weekend of Celebration, more than 450 guests gathered at the National Constitution Center for a black-tie gala celebrating the opening of the Armenian Heritage Walk and honoring distinguished Armenian Americans. The evening opened with reflections from Foundation Vice President Karolyn Chebookjian, who connected the project’s completion to its 1976 origins and the legacy of those who first brought the Young Meher vision to life. A video message from Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro followed, recognizing both the significance of the project and the contributions of Armenian Americans. The program continued with a commemorative video featuring board members and a lighthearted introduction by Conan O’Brien, setting the stage for the evening’s master of ceremonies, Sona Movsesian.

Sona brought warmth and humor to the celebration as she presented awards of excellence to seven honorees: Michael Aram; James Philip Bagian; Mark Hoplamazian; Edele Hovnanian; Stephen J. Maranian; Katherine Sarafian; and Peter Vosbikian. Each shared personal reflections on their journeys, often with humor, while highlighting the enduring influence of Armenian heritage across generations. The evening also featured a musical performance by Mher Mnatsakanyan. In closing, Foundation member Nanette Zakian expressed gratitude to all who made the Armenian Heritage Walk possible, emphasizing its role as a lasting symbol of unity, history, and cultural pride, and encouraging future generations to carry that legacy forward.
